Welcome to the Career and Postsecondary Encouragement (CAPE) Network's® Connext Postsecondary Assessment System. This online tool is designed to enable college administrators and student support professionals to develop a better understanding of the counseling and support needs of their students. We recommend that students complete the form in one sitting, however each section saves when the student moves on to the next section, and students can return to complete other sections at a later time, if necessary.

Form 1 is designed for students in communitiy and junior colleges. Form 2 is designed for students in institutions that grant baccalaureate degrees.

Typically college students complete Connext assessments in their own time and space or in a classroom/lab environment. For students who complete the assessment in their own time and space, we recommend distributing the assessment through emailing the relevant hyperlink that we sent to the Connext site administrator at the time of registration. Include instructions to students such as the following:

XXX College administration, faculty, and staff want to know how you are doing. Where can we make improvements? Your responses to this questionnaire will tell us about your career interests, your academic experiences, your perceptions, and about your campus involvement. Your feedback about your interests, experiences, and perceptions will help inform our efforts. In order to ensure that every student at XXX College has the best collegiate experience possible, we ask that you complete the online questionnaire at https://www.connext.us:444/StartSurvey.aspx?sid=2&authcode=xxx no later than mm/dd/yyyy.

Most students complete the assessments in 15-20 minutes, so we suggest that you instruct students to complete the assessment in one sitting.

For classroom/lab administration, you could post the hyperlink to your institution's assessment form as XXX College Student Survey on the institution's website. The hyperlink selects the appropriate form for your institution and enters the authorization code automatically. At the time of administration, instructions would direct students to this link. A second alternative is to direct students to the appropriate form in the Connext Student's Menu and to instruct students to enter your institution's authorization code manually. A similar message to the proposed email message above will help set the appropriate tone of seriousness for the classroom/lab administration.

From the last page of questions (Services and Activities), students should click on the Finish Survey link at the bottom of the page. Students will be prompted to either go back and make revisions or to proceed by clicking on the send/print/save button.

When students click on send/print/save, they will be presented with the following choices:

  • Print a copy of their form and responses (if a printer is available)
  • Send their form and responses by email to
    • Any email address
    • Themselves

After they make their selections, students should click on the Finish button. This will save all of their information and preferences to the database. If the student selects the print option, the system will display the student's assessment form with the student's responses underlined and in a darker font. To print their responses, students should click on the browser's quick print icon or open the printer dialog (File/Print) to change printer settings and print by clicking on the print button.
